Claudia FUSCO

Claudia Fusco is the Director for “Compliance, governance and support to Member States” of the European Commission's Directorate-General for Environment. The mission of this directorate is to effectively implement and enforce EU environmental policies and laws, while also supporting Member States. It also works to mainstreaming environmental considerations into EU financial instruments, supporting sustainable finance development, ensuring robust governance tools, and enhancing transparency and accountability in environmental decision-making processes.

Claudia Fusco served the Commission for over two decades during which she acquired deep knowledge of a variety of EU policy areas, including competition, transport, internal market, environment, and energy.  

Before joining the Commission in 2001, Claudia Fusco worked as a customs official. She holds a law degree and a PhD in Public Finance
